Job type

Salary

Role Overview:
We have partnered with a high-profile macro hedge fund (recent launch/multiple billion AUM) looking to hire an EM Inflation Portfolio Manager to join their investment team, working alongside the CIO and co-founders. The firm has a specialized focus on G10 rates and inflation trading. While the fund has a strong DM macro bias, an EM inflation portfolio manager would be orthogonally complimentary to the team and allow them to expand their inflation coverage into EM. The EM Inflation Portfolio Manager will run their own independent book and report directly into the CIO.
Key Responsibilities:
- Portfolio Management: Manage a dedicated EM inflation-focused portfolio, with a clear investment framework that is understandable, tested, and aligned with the firm’s macro approach.
- Framework Development & Risk Management: Establish a structured investment framework specifically for EM inflation trades, tailored to the firm’s discretion-driven, inflation-oriented style.
- Strategic Market Monitoring & Execution: Monitor inflation trends, policy developments, and economic events in key EM markets, justifying trade decisions based on an appropriate trading horizon and risk/reward profile.
- Long-Term Collaboration: Engage with the CIO and senior team to align EM inflation strategies with the firm’s broader portfolio objectives, demonstrating both flexibility and a clear understanding of balance sheet needs for risk-taking.
- Data-Driven Analysis: While the role doesn’t require a heavy quantitative background & framework, the ability to apply data-driven insights for strategic inflation positioning is highly preferred.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Experience: 5-10 years in EM markets, with at least 2-3 years as a Portfolio Manager or sell-side trader and a proven track record of generating consistent P&L within EM Inflation (in addition to other macro asset classes)
- Track Record & Growth Potential: Demonstrated ability to achieve substantial P&L ($30m-$40m+), or clear potential to hit these numbers in the future with demonstrated accomplishments and rapid career progression
- Investment Discipline: A well-defined and rigorously tested investment framework that can be clearly communicated to the team and aligns with the firm’s discretionary approach. Flexibility in trading horizons, with the ability to justify strategy based on specific market conditions.
- Collaborative & Integrity-Focused: Strong communicator able to work within a high-calibre, collaborative team, upholding the firm’s high standards for performance, reputation, and sustainable growth.
