G10 Macro/Rates Portfolio Manager
Role Overview:
We have partnered with a high-profile macro hedge fund (recent launch/multiple $billion AUM) looking to hire G10 Rates Portfolio Manager to join their investment team, working alongside the CIO and co-founders.
This would be an expansionary hire and our client is open to a wide range of profiles and experience levels, provided there is a strong directional macro focus and a large percentage of pnl is generated from G10 Rates (G3 Rates or specializations in European Rates, Scandi Rates etc are also completely fine).
Rates Vol and Basis profiles would be of particular interest, however, any profiles with a strong rates focus and at least 2-3+ years (minimum) of verifiable track record from the buy-side or sell-side (provided from prop/personal risk pnl) would all be considered.
For more junior candidates, our client is looking for $10m+ average annualized pnl and for more experienced candidates, ideally $20m-$30m+ average pnl with the ability and confidence to scale up as book size increases.
Starting book size can range from $100m-$400m (depending on experience) with more flexible risk limits compared to most multi-strat funds.
This is a very high-calibre team with an excellent track record, a good culture, and strong institutional backing, with exciting growth plans and a lot of active ongoing hiring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Portfolio Management: Manage a dedicated and independent macro/rates portfolio, with a clear investment framework that is understandable, tested, and aligned with the firm’s macro approach.
- Long-Term Collaboration: Engage with the CIO and senior team to align your strategy with the firm’s broader portfolio objectives, demonstrating both flexibility and a clear understanding of balance sheet needs for risk-taking.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Experience: 5-10 years as a macro investor, with at least 2-3+ years as a portfolio manager or sell-side trader and a proven track record of generating consistent P&L within G10 Rates (in addition to other macro asset classes)
- Track Record & Growth Potential: Demonstrated ability to achieve substantial P&L ($30m-$40m+), or clear potential to hit these numbers in the future with demonstrated accomplishments and rapid career progression
- Investment Discipline: A well-defined and rigorously tested investment framework that can be clearly communicated to the team and aligns with the firm’s discretionary approach. Flexibility in trading horizons, with the ability to justify strategy based on specific market conditions.
- Collaborative & Integrity-Focused: Strong communicator and able to work within a high-calibre, collaborative team, upholding the firm’s high standards for performance, reputation, and sustainable growth.
