Associate, Data Analytics Quant (London)
Role Overview
We have partnered with a leading global alternative asset manager to hire a Data Analytics Quant Associate for the data analytics function within its European insurance investment platform, based in London. The role sits inside a high output analytics team that supports portfolio management, balance sheet management and private assets teams across the platform`s insurance business and reports directly to the team`s head.
This is a hands on, generalist quant role rather than a narrow specialist seat. The team is best described as production focused: instead of one long term strategic project running over months, this person will typically be juggling three or four shorter-term projects at any one time, spanning risk analytics, trading system support and reporting, and would suit someone who enjoys variety and fast turnaround over deep, single-topic specialisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, own and maintain production-grade data pipelines and analytics in Python, with a strong focus on data quality, reconciliation and controls
- Support a live risk engine migration, understanding new risk metrics and helping validate and debug the transition
- Help scale a growing fixed income trading analytics system currently processing around 100,000 instruments a day
- Drive the automation of legacy Excel-based processes into scalable Python workflows
- Provide cross-functional quantitative support across asset liability management, balance sheet management and private assets teams
- Partner closely with a large and growing offshore analytics team, helping define standards and scale delivery
- Respond to a broad and constantly evolving set of analytical requests from multiple stakeholders at once
Requirements
- Strong quant background from banking, asset management or a comparable quantitative environment
- Excellent Python skills, including experience building and maintaining data pipelines and production analytics
- A genuine generalist mindset, comfortable moving between several different problems in the same day or week
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to work directly with senior stakeholders across several teams
- Comfortable working with, and getting leverage from, a large distributed analytics team
- Understanding of fixed income principles and insurance-specific asset management (ALM, capital, Solvency II / Solvency UK Matching Adjustment) is a plus but not a prerequisite
