Fixed Income Trader
Role Overview
We have partnered with a fast-growing investment management firm looking to hire a Fixed Income Trader for their UK Trading Team based in London.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team on the back of significant expansion following a major acquisition. Reporting to the Head of UK Trading, this role focuses on executing trades across fixed-income securities and working closely with the multi-asset investment team, as well as the credit and LDI teams.
The ideal candidate will have 1–4 years of trading experience, either sell-side or buy-side, with hands-on experience in fixed-income products such as cash bonds, linkers, and swaps. This position offers the chance to contribute to the team`s strategic growth while gaining exposure to multi-asset trading within a flat, collaborative environment, in a successful and rapidly growing business.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute trades promptly and accurately across a range of markets, with a focus on fixed-income products (cash bonds, linkers, IRS, ILS, and UK nominals).
- Analyse execution outcomes to ensure adherence to Best Execution principles and optimize trading strategies.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with trading counterparties, ensuring access to competitive pricing and liquidity.
- Provide market insights, including price movements, trading volumes, and market sentiment, to Portfolio Managers and the wider Investment Team.
- Collaborate with Portfolio Managers to align trading strategies with investment objectives and improve trading infrastructure.
- Stay updated on financial market regulations and their impact on liquidity, pricing, and trading practices.
- Ensure trades are correctly booked and reconciled in internal systems.
Requirements & Qualifications
- 1–4 years of trading experience, either sell-side or buy-side.
- Strong understanding of fixed-income products (e.g., cash bonds, swaps, linkers) is essential.
- Exposure to inflation-linked swaps, swaptions, and FX is advantageous but not required.
- Proficiency with electronic trading platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Tradeweb).
- Familiarity with execution protocols, including voice and electronic trading methods.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with a focus on achieving optimal execution outcomes.
- Team player with a hands-on, collaborative approach and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to thrive in a flat, non-hierarchical team structure.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Passion for financial markets and the ambition to contribute to the team’s growth.
