Investment Associate Private Markets (Insurance)
Role Overview
We have partnered with a leading alternative investment manager looking to hire an Associate (Insurance Investments/Private Debt) to join a highly regarded investment team based in Zurich. This team manages multi-billion euro investments in private debt on behalf of insurance clients, focusing on strategic capital deployment that aligns with clients` risk appetites, regulatory frameworks, and return objectives.
This is an exceptional opportunity to join a high-calibre team responsible for evaluating and deploying capital into private debt investment opportunities, optimizing capital efficiency under Solvency II (Standard Formula) and Matching Adjustment, and ensuring robust portfolio construction. Unlike origination-focused roles, this position emphasizes investment evaluation and strategic capital allocation decisions on behalf of insurance clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse and evaluate new private debt investments, providing comprehensive summaries to support investment decisions.
- Ensure alignment of investment decisions with Solvency II (Standard Formula) requirements and clients` regulatory frameworks.
- Prepare and present investment materials for internal stakeholders and clients, defending decisions and managing governance processes.
- Collaborate closely with internal deal teams to access relevant information and advocate for insurance clients` specific needs.
- Develop and adjust investor reports and ad hoc responses for both internal management and external clients, including auditors and regulators.
- Apply and refine portfolio analytics to track capital activity, assess risk-adjusted returns, forecast performance, and manage diversification.
- Maintain strong client relationships, providing timely support and strategic insights to optimize investment outcomes.
Requirements & Qualifications
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in insurance investments, asset management, investment banking (insurance solutions/structuring), consulting (insurance regulation or investment structuring), or alternative asset management.
- Strong knowledge of private debt investments at portfolio level (cricital) and individual deal level (preferred but not required)
- In-depth understanding of Solvency II regulations, particularly the Standard Formula and its application to private debt (additional experience with Solvency II MA framework is a plus)
- Proven experience in deploying insurance capital into private debt transactions, with a focus on capital efficiency and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in portfolio analytics, credit risk assessment and relative value analysis for private debt investments.
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to defend investment proposals and communicate complex concepts clearly.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel for reporting and modeling purposes (critical)
- Academic background in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field.
- Fluency in English is required; working proficiency in German or Italian is a plus.
This role offers a unique opportunity to play a strategic part in managing insurance investments within a leading globally recognized alternative investment platform, with significant exposure to private debt markets and regulatory-driven portfolio construction.
