Multi-Asset Portfolio Manager
Role Overview
We have partnered with a leading global asset manager looking to hire a Multi-Asset Portfolio Manager to join an established team responsible for managing significant AUM. The team operates primarily within a multi-manager/fund-of-funds structure, investing across internal and external funds using both active and passive strategies.
This role is ideal for a high-performing portfolio manager with multi-asset experience and a strong grasp of manager research, portfolio construction, and strategic asset allocation. The successful candidate will take on lead PM responsibilities for specific funds and play a key role in shaping investment strategy and fund design across the MPS and workplace pension platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee portfolios within a multi-asset, fund-of-funds framework
- Assume lead portfolio management responsibility for select strategies, contributing directly to performance and asset allocation decisions
- Collaborate with internal research and manager selection teams to integrate building blocks effectively into portfolios
- Represent investment strategies and positioning in client meetings and adviser discussions, ensuring clarity of communication and alignment with client goals
- Engage with macroeconomic and cross-asset thematic research to inform portfolio construction and tactical tilts
- Support the evolution of investment strategy through active participation in team decision-making processes and performance reviews
Requirements & Qualifications
- Extensive experience in multi-asset portfolio management, ideally within a fund-of-funds or model portfolio service (MPS) context
- Proven ability to take discretionary investment risk and articulate investment decision-making with real-world examples of portfolio impact
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in manager selection, evaluation, and blending of active and passive strategies
- Strong understanding of strategic and tactical asset allocation, portfolio construction, and macroeconomic investment frameworks
- Quantitative literacy, with the ability to interpret and leverage SAA/TAA models and portfolio construction tools. Python or similar coding skills are a plus
- Experience engaging with financial advisers and institutional clients; excellent communication skills are essential
- Background or exposure to private markets is advantageous but not essential
- Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to thrive in a collaborative, performance-driven environment
- Track record of having led or co-led fund strategies or being closely involved in discretionary portfolio risk-taking is highly desirable
