Senior IG Credit Portfolio Manager (USD Focus)
Role Overview:
We have partnered with a fast-growing specialist UK insurer looking to hire a Global IG Credit Portfolio Manager (10+ years` experience) to join their public credit team as a lead portfolio manager for US/USD IG Credit.
This is an expansionary hire within a firm growing at 10%-20% per year that’s in an excellent position, with well-respected leadership & a great and collaborative culture. The team deploys a long-only, buy & maintain approach, with an active approach to risk management and all the PMs working as a team and co-managing the public credit book, while also working very closely with the trading and credit research teams.
In this role, the selected candidate will be responsible for a large (multiple £billion) US/USD IG Credit book, with other PMs on the team taking ownership of GBP, EUR, and EM Credit (to name a few).
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead PM responsibilities for USD IG Credit portfolio (£multiple billion)
- Work closely with trading and research teams to co-manage the public credit book
- Collaborate with colleagues in ALM, Research, and Trading to ensure decisions are aligned with the insurance balance sheet
- Source attractive investments with timely risk management of challenging credits
- Identify rebalancing opportunities to maximize long-term investment performance
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Proven experience of managing USD Investment Grade Credit portfolios while working closely with credit analysts & trading teams to make long-term investment strategy recommendations
- At least 10+ years of experience, with 3-5 years as a PM or Assistant PM managing significant USD IG credit exposure (even if also managing some EUR/GBP)
- Experience with Buy & Maintain strategies and demonstrated strong risk-adjusted performance, while avoiding excessive credit downgrades
- Knowledge of insurance regulatory frameworks (Solvency II etc.) is highly preferred
- Strong technical knowledge of the USD Credit Market & major issuers is a core requirement
- Ability to assess relative value, identify & consider tail risks to determine attractive investments
- Strong communication & presentational skills
- Recognized professional qualification within relevant industry or field (CFA would be an advantage)
