Associate Quantitative Analyst (Data Infrastructure)
Company Overview
We have partnered with a leading global alternative investment manager looking to hire an Associate Quantitative Analyst with a Data Infrastructure background. Our client has with a significant and growing presence in insurance asset management across Europe. and the platform manages a large and increasingly complex asset base on behalf of insurance clients, with a focus on capital-efficient investment strategies and balance sheet optimisation. Following a recent acquisition of a major UK insurance book, the firm is undergoing a substantial expansion in both scale and operational complexity, particularly within its European insurance investment platform.
Role Overview
This Associate will sit within the Quantitative team, operating at the intersection of quantitative modelling and data management. The role has been created to support a strategic shift toward a more integrated operating model, where data and modelling capabilities are closely aligned rather than siloed.
The successful candidate will act as a bridge between teams, developing an understanding of how quantitative zmodels consume and rely on data, while also contributing to the design and implementation of the underlying data infrastructure. A key component of the role is project management, ensuring the timely and effective delivery of data-related initiatives across a complex organisational structure.
The position arises in the context of the firm’s expansion into the UK insurance market and the adoption of the Solvency II Matching Adjustment framework, which introduces significantly greater data granularity and precision requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a working understanding of the quantitative models used by the team, including asset-liability management (ALM), balance sheet optimisation, and risk analytics, with a focus on data inputs and structure
- Contribute to the design and evolution of data architecture, including how data is structured, stored, and accessed to support modelling and reporting needs
- Lead and coordinate data-related projects, working across internal teams and central technology functions to ensure timely delivery and implementation
- Manage interactions with global technology teams, including navigating internal processes, tracking progress, and resolving bottlenecks
- Conduct detailed data analysis and validation, including large-scale data cleaning and reconciliation to achieve high levels of accuracy
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders across data management, portfolio management, and quantitative functions to ensure alignment on data requirements and priorities
- Support the integration of newly acquired insurance assets into the existing data and modelling framework
Requirements & Qualifications
- Proficiency in SQL (any variant), with the ability to independently query, manipulate, and validate data
- Strong technical literacy across data systems, databases, and pipelines, with the ability to engage effectively with engineering teams
- Demonstrated project management capability, particularly within large organisations and complex technology environments
- Experience working with production-scale data infrastructure as part of a broader team, with ownership of meaningful components
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work across technical and investment-focused teams
- Ability to operate in an environment with ambiguity, particularly in the context of data gaps and evolving infrastructure
Preferred but not required:
- Familiarity with the UK Solvency II Matching Adjustment framework
- Knowledge of fixed income markets and instruments
- Prior experience in insurance or insurance asset management
