We have partnered with a leading European investment bank with a top-tier global markets franchise looking to hire a Head of Equity Derivatives Strategy (Europe).
This is a senior leadership role within a globally recognised platform, focused on building and leading the European Equity Derivatives & Tactical Equities team. The remit extends beyond traditional equity derivatives strategy, encompassing flow intelligence and thematic strategy across Delta One, ETFs, and QIS.
The role sits on the trading floor and operates at the intersection of research, trading, and sales, with a strong emphasis on delivering actionable trade ideas, supporting client engagement, and driving commercial outcomes. This position offers a rare opportunity to shape and build a team from the ground up, with immediate responsibility for hiring and structuring the London-based strategy team.
Key Responsibilities

- Develop and publish high-conviction trade ideas, market views, and ad hoc thematic research for European markets.
- Partner closely with global counterparts, particularly in the US, to build and integrate a European flow intelligence capability.
- Act as the primary European representative of the global strategy team to both internal stakeholders and external clients.
- Build, lead, and mentor the London-based team, including hiring multiple juniors and defining the long-term team structure.
- Work in close collaboration with equity derivatives trading, sales, and cash trading teams, maintaining strong alignment with business objectives and P&L impact.
- Contribute to client engagement through presentations, discussions, and strategic insights, supporting revenue generation and franchise growth.
- Maintain a highly commercial approach to research, ensuring outputs are actionable, timely, and aligned with market opportunities.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Strong experience covering European equities is essential, with a deep understanding of regional market dynamics.
- Proven expertise in equity derivatives, with the ability to engage credibly with both trading desks and sophisticated clients.
- Demonstrated ability to express equity views through derivatives, combining market narrative with trade structuring.
- Quantamental and tactical investment style, with a focus on positioning, catalysts, and scenario-based analysis.
- Experience across both buy-side and sell-side environments is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with flow intelligence and/or thematic strategy (including Delta One or QIS) is advantageous.
- Prior research publishing experience is beneficial but not essential, provided strong communication skills are evident.
