Digital Assets Strategist
Role Overview
We have partnered with a tier-1 asset & wealth manager looking to hire a Digital Assets Strategist to build and institutionalise the firm’s digital assets capability. This is a newly created, senior investment role at a critical inflection point, where client demand and internal interest are accelerating but formal exposure remains limited.
The mandate is to take the organisation’s digital assets framework from zero to one in a disciplined, governance-led manner, fully aligned with the CIO-led House View and broader multi-asset investment philosophy. The focus is initially on education, structure, and credibility, with investment expression developing over time.
Positioned within the core investment function, this role carries real influence, including regular participation in senior investment forums and ownership of the firm’s digital assets narrative across regions and client segments.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and articulate the firm’s House View on digital assets, including crypto assets, tokenisation, and blockchain infrastructure, ensuring consistency across the organisation.
- Sit on senior investment forums and contribute to Investment Committee discussions with a structured, risk-aware framework for assessing digital assets.
- Develop a clearly defined and governed digital assets investment universe, even where allocations remain limited or optional.
- Produce high-quality, decision-oriented research and thought leadership, including strategy papers, thematic publications, and ongoing market commentary tailored to a private banking audience.
- Act as the single point of accountability for digital assets across the firm, working closely with senior investment leadership, macro strategists, and asset allocation teams.
- Educate bankers and investment professionals globally, raising the baseline level of understanding around digital assets, risks, and portfolio implications.
- Support Relationship Managers and Investment Specialists in sophisticated client discussions, particularly with UHNW and advisory clients.
- Represent the firm’s thinking calmly and credibly during periods of market volatility, including with sceptical or conservative clients.
- Interface with Compliance, Risk, Operations, and external providers to evaluate custodians, ETFs, and other approved instruments, ensuring alignment with regulatory and governance standards.
- Provide input on tokenisation as a long-term structural theme, distinct from short-term crypto price dynamics.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Deep technical credibility across digital assets, including crypto market structure, tokenisation, and blockchain infrastructure (e.g. protocol-level understanding).
- Strong grounding in macroeconomics, correlations, and multi-asset portfolio construction, with the ability to contextualise digital assets within a broader investment framework.
- Experience operating within an institutional, governance-led investment environment with a clearly defined House View.
- Proven ability to communicate complex concepts in a practical, client-relevant manner to senior stakeholders, bankers, and clients.
- Gravitas and confidence to influence Investment Committee-level discussions and act as an escalation point for sophisticated client queries.
- Clear alignment with a disciplined, non-evangelical approach to digital assets; comfort operating within defined risk and regulatory boundaries.
- Strong written skills, with experience producing high-quality investment publications and internal education materials.
- London-based, with a global mindset and willingness to engage across regions.
This is a foundational hire with clear long-term scope to build a broader digital assets capability over time, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to define and shape an entire strategic pillar within a major private banking platform.
