G10 Macro Strategist
Role Overview
We have partnered with a Tier-1 global asset manager looking to hire a G10 Macro/Rates Desk Strategist. This position is based in Singapore and sits within a highly regarded macro research & strategy team.
The successful candidate will be embedded on the G10 Rates desk, working day-to-day alongside a team of experienced G1 Rates PMs and in close interaction with other macro PMs. This structure makes the role particularly exciting, offering the ability to influence investment decisions, contribute directly to PnL, and help shape the portfolio construction process.
The role is well-suited to candidates with a background in rates strategy or macro strategy, who can generate clear, investment-relevant views using a structured macro framework. It requires the ability to analyse inflation dynamics, monetary policy trajectories, and sovereign fundamentals, and to translate these into actionable trade ideas. Coverage of Japan is a significant plus - e.g., ability to form views on Japanese inflation sustainability, the BoJ policy path, or JGB valuation in a normalised world.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth analysis of macroeconomic developments, central bank policy, and sovereign fundamentals to support investment decisions in global fixed income markets.
- Generate actionable rates and FX strategy views, with the ability to link inflation dynamics, monetary policy trajectories, and yield curve structures into coherent trade recommendations.
- Build and maintain models that forecast interest rate dynamics, assess policy shifts, and interpret yield curve movements.
- Work closely with G10 Rates PMs on the desk, directly contributing to trade idea generation, positioning, and investment performance.
- Collaborate with other macro PMs to ensure strategy views are aligned across the broader platform.
- Produce timely and thematic research notes and reports to drive internal investment dialogue.
- Engage with external policy institutions, think tanks, and market participants to inform internal macro perspectives.
- Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the team’s macro research framework, ensuring rigour and relevance in a dynamic market environment.
- Apply macro frameworks to real-world market challenges - for example, assessing Japan’s inflation trajectory, the sustainability of BoJ policy, or valuation of JGBs in a shifting rate environment.
Requirements & Qualifications
- 2–6 years of experience in macro research or strategy, with a particular focus on DM rates
- Strong technical toolkit, including econometric modelling, macro forecasting, and interest rate analytics.
- Proven ability to synthesise macroeconomic signals into actionable investment views, with experience supporting traders or investment teams.
- Deep understanding of inflation regimes, monetary policy dynamics, and sovereign balance sheet analysis.
- Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex macro ideas in a clear, concise, and investment-relevant format.
- Strong data analysis and charting skills (Excel essential; Python/Bloomberg a plus).
- Coverage of Japan is a significant plus - e.g., ability to form views on Japanese inflation sustainability, the BoJ policy path, or JGB valuation in a normalised world.
- Located in, or willing to relocate to, Singapore (visa sponsorship available for exceptional candidates).
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to contribute independently in a high-performance environment.
