Inflation Strategist
Role Overview
We have partnered with a leading global investment bank looking to hire an Inflation Strategist (VP) to join their highly regarded European Rates Strategy team in London.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of Euro and UK Inflation Strategy within a top-tier fixed income research platform known for its strong macro capabilities and established rates franchise. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing actionable inflation trade ideas, shaping client narratives, and contributing to one of the market`s leading rates research franchises.
The role sits within a collaborative, high-performing team covering European rates markets across cash products, linear products, money markets, and inflation-linked markets. The team operates with a macro-first investment philosophy, focusing on identifying key market themes and translating them into actionable investment recommendations for institutional clients.
This position is ideally suited to a strategist with a strong inflation background who enjoys combining macroeconomic analysis with trade idea generation and client engagement. The role offers significant scope for long-term progression and broader exposure across rates markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead coverage of Euro and UK inflation markets, developing investment views and actionable trade recommendations for institutional clients.
- Generate and communicate macro-driven inflation strategies across both cash and derivatives markets.
- Build compelling client narratives around inflation dynamics, central bank policy, rates markets, and broader macroeconomic developments.
- Contribute to flagship weekly rates publications and thematic research pieces across the broader fixed income platform.
- Produce timely commentary and market insights for daily inflation-linked research publications.
- Work closely with economists and broader rates strategists to incorporate inflation forecasts and macro views into tradeable investment ideas.
- Develop relative value, cross-market, and directional inflation trade recommendations.
- Engage directly with institutional clients, presenting investment views, discussing trade ideas, and supporting the broader client franchise.
- Collaborate with colleagues across rates, economics, trading, and research teams to enhance overall product offering and client service.
- Maintain flexibility to contribute across broader rates strategy coverage as market conditions and team priorities evolve.
- Continuously monitor market developments, policy changes, inflation trends, and investor positioning to identify new opportunities.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Demonstrable experience within inflation strategy, rates strategy, macro research, or a related fixed income research function at an investment bank, asset manager, hedge fund, or similar institution.
- Inflation Expertise: Strong understanding of UK and/or Euro inflation markets, including inflation-linked products and associated trading strategies.
- Trade Idea Generation: Proven ability to formulate, articulate, and defend actionable inflation trade recommendations.
- Macro Mindset: Strong macroeconomic framework with the ability to identify key market themes and translate them into investment opportunities.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to combine top-down macro analysis with detailed relative value and market-specific research.
- Product Knowledge: Good understanding of rates markets, inflation-linked instruments, government bonds, and associated derivatives.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting investment views to sophisticated institutional audiences.
- Client Orientation: Comfortable interacting with clients and contributing to the growth of a leading research franchise.
- Adaptability: Willingness to broaden coverage beyond inflation when required and contribute across wider rates strategy initiatives.
- Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to operate effectively within a highly collaborative team environment.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with quantitative analysis and market data tools; programming experience is beneficial but not essential
