Portfolio Manager, Multi-Asset Absolute Return
Role Overview
Our client, a leading UK institutional asset manager, is hiring a senior Portfolio Manager for its flagship global multi-strategy absolute return fund. The fund is a multi billion pound, daily liquidity vehicle targeting cash plus returns with volatility managed to less than half that of global equities, run through a portfolio of 20 to 30 diversified long and short strategies across asset classes. Following the departure of a long standing senior PM, the incoming hire joins as one of four Portfolio Managers and provides a second senior macro voice within the team.
Key Responsibilities
• Full participation in idea generation, portfolio construction, sizing and risk decisions on a global macro discretionary absolute return portfolio.
• Contribute and defend macro views within a collegiate, debate driven investment forum, working alongside volatility and derivatives specialists.
• Express views across rates, equities, credit and FX using an unusually broad toolkit: swaps, swaptions, receiver and payer spreads, index and sector futures, options structures and total return swaps, with meaningful notional leverage available in rates.
• Engage with systematic signals as an input to a discretionary framework.
• Contribute to the wider multi-asset investment debate across the firm.
• No order execution responsibilities: a dedicated implementation team executes, leaving the PM free to focus on research, analysis and decision making.
Requirements and Qualifications
The offer.
• A rare combination of a flexible global mandate, a stable and growing capital base, a collaborative and intellectually open senior team, and a role designed around thinking rather than execution.
