Senior LatAm Rates & FX Strategist
Role Overview
We have partnered with a Tier-1 buy-side firm in London looking to hire a LatAm Rates & FX Strategist. This hire will work directly alongside an established and well-respected portfolio manager, contributing high-conviction macro views and actionable trade ideas focused on the Latin American region.
This is a high-impact opportunity and the successful candidate will serve as the primary LatAm macro strategist on the desk. Key responsibilities will include leading on LatAm macro strategy coverage across macro fixed income and FX markets, as well as generating actionable trade ideas for the book. Additionally, there will be a focus on building and maintaining relationships with policymakers and strengthening the macro research & strategy framework within the team.
The broader macro platform is well-resourced and globally integrated, with approximately 40 professionals across multiple global locations, including Portfolio Managers, multi-asset traders, quant strategists, and macro research specialists.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead macroeconomic strategy coverage for Latin America across FX and rates markets
- Generate trade ideas and investment strategies in close partnership with the LatAm PM
- Build and maintain strong relationships with policymakers, central banks, and think-tanks in the region
- Monitor fiscal and monetary policy developments and assess implications for markets and positioning
- Contribute to the firm’s global macro strategy while maintaining deep focus on the LATAM portfolio
- Develop and enhance the macro research and strategy framework for regional coverage
- Deliver regular and ad-hoc insights on yield curves, spreads, and market risks to inform trade implementation
Requirements & Qualifications
- 8–15 years’ experience in macro strategy, ideally within a buy-side environment; top-performing sell-side talent with a strong track record of idea generation will also be considered
- Demonstrable experience in LatAm macro strategy, with a deep understanding of regional sovereign economics and policy landscapes
- Proven track record of generating investment ideas and implementing trades in LATAM FX and rates
- Strong policy and institutional engagement experience within the region
- Fluency in Portuguese or Spanish is important, along with strong English communication skills
- Willingness to be based in London; the firm offers full visa sponsorship and relocation support
