Senior Macro Portfolio Manager (Directional G10 Rates)
Role Overview:
We are working with a leading Global Asset Manager looking to hire a G10 Macro/Rates Portfolio Manager to join their internal Hedge Fund unit in New York.
The global macro team manages approx $7bn AUM and sits within a $30bn Hedge Fund unit.
The Senior G10 Directional Rates PM will be responsible for managing a significant alpha sleeve consistent with their stated philosophy and process, and within their area of specialization.
Our client’s platform is built on a philosophy that each investor is independently responsible for meeting their individual alpha targets, whilst also contributing to the broader investment dialogue and the success of others. It is important that all PMs are a part of creating a positive, rigorous, best in class investment culture that develops & nurtures talent within the team.
This is a long-term career opportunity that would allow and support a PM to take sufficient risk to make significant returns, whilst contributing to a best-in-class investment culture.
Additionally, the selected candidate will have excellent potential for an increased capital allocation over time, as well as a clear formulaic payout structure and flexible risk limits.
Responsibilities:
- Managing a meaningful discretionary rates alpha sleeve target as a member of the Global Macro team
- Contribute to the global macro and broader firm investment dialogue and debate
- Support investor relations and client groups to further grow assets and build client demand
- Mentorship of high potential talent within the team
Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of PM experience managing meaningful assets in developed market rates with a demonstrated ability to scale risk and an attributable investment track record
- Strong investment philosophy and repeatable process for decision-making, portfolio construction and risk management
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a collaborative and inclusive work ethos
- Able to work both independently and as part of a global team
- Self-reflective and focused on constant improvement in both skills and decision-making
- Strong academic credentials, ideally including a post-graduate or professional qualification
More on the Macro team & broader internal hedge fund unit:
- The Global Macro team is currently over $7bn and rapidly growing, with 10-11 total headcount (mostly in London)
- Client base includes some of the worlds most well-respected endowments, foundations, central banks, and other institutional investors
- While strong and consistent performance is expected, a key selling point is that you do not get fired quickly for having reasonable drawdowns, provided performance is on track (as would be the case in many of the multi-strats)
- No pass-through model
- Starting allocations of $100m-$500m+ (depending on background/profile)
Payouts/Comp:
- 10% formulaic payout on pnl generated
