Strategy Associate (Insurance)
Role Overview
We have partnered with a leading global asset manager looking to hire a Strategy Associate to join their Zurich-based Quant team. This newly created role sits at the intersection of business strategy, cross-functional coordination, and communication-supporting the Head of the Quant team in translating technical initiatives into clear, actionable narratives across the firm’s European insurance platform.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in helping articulate what the Quant team is building, why it matters, and how it supports the broader platform`s strategic goals. This is a high-impact opportunity for someone who combines analytical acumen with strong communication skills and enjoys working across disciplines in a dynamic, globally integrated environment.
The position is best suited to candidates with 2-6 years of experience in investment banking, consulting, or other client-facing financial services roles, especially those who have worked closely with technical or investment teams and are comfortable operating across both strategic and operational dimensions.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Communication
- Translate complex quantitative and investment initiatives into clear, structured narratives tailored to internal and external stakeholders.
- Draft business updates, strategy decks, and summary materials that explain the Quant team’s priorities, workflows, and value-add to the broader platform.
- Coordinate with global counterparts across New York, Germany, and other European offices to ensure strategic alignment.
Business & Client Strategy
- Partner with the Head of Quant to manage strategic planning, including project prioritization, resource allocation, and budget tracking.
- Track progress against key milestones such as new client onboarding, AUM growth, and regulatory readiness.
- Contribute to the preparation of materials for LP capital raises, third-party client pitches, and internal business reviews.
Regulatory & Analytical Exposure
- Develop a foundational understanding of European insurance regulation, particularly Solvency II and Matching Adjustment frameworks.
- Help interpret regulatory changes and articulate their strategic implications for the Quant team and broader investment function.
Cross-Team Coordination
- Serve as a connector across internal groups including ALM, Balance Sheet Management, Risk, and Client Relations.
- Ensure clear communication and alignment across geographies, disciplines, and stakeholder groups.
Requirements & Qualifications
- 2-6 years of relevant experience in one or more of the following:
- Investment banking or private banking, ideally in a client-facing or analytical capacity
- Strategy consulting, preferably within financial services
- Quantitative or finance-adjacent roles with significant communication and presentation responsibilities
- Strong analytical capabilities and comfort working with numbers, including financial modeling and data interpretation
- Exceptional communication skills-both written and verbal-with a proven ability to translate complex content into accessible messaging
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects across timelines and stakeholders
- Strong proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel; familiarity with business planning or investor-facing material creation a plus
- Proactive, relationship-driven mindset and ability to operate effectively with senior leadership
- EU or Swiss citizenship preferred due to location-specific considerations
